Oakley Automates Their Online Catalog with Help from Daptiv

Oakley needed a more effective way to manage all the graphics and live demos that contribute to the success of Oakley's online initiatives, particularly its online catalog. Oakley's online catalog is a major part of its branding and features a wide range of products such as eyewear, footwear, apparel, accessories, and watches. A huge part of the process includes collecting the tremendous amount of data and content that has to be cycled in and out of every catalog issue as new products are added and taken away along with promotions, etc.

The Perfect Fit for Oakley's Global Teams

Oakley had no project management collaboration solution in place, and instead relied on ad-hoc solutions used by individual managers, including email, phone calls and excel spreadsheets. This led to dropped issues and the huge challenge of keeping and updating status and tracking through individual files.

Faced with this challenge, the company looked for an environment that would integrate disparate files and content, and provide a single platform accessible to all the team members of Oakley and its extended enterprise, including the content specialists working with Oakley's partners and vendors.

Oakley looked at Microsoft Project Server, but unfortunately found that this product required a firewall and development of a custom VPN to gain access - which would ultimately pose a barrier for user adoption, particularly from the numerous vendors outside the enterprise.

Daptiv, with its easy, web-based access, extremely user friendly interface, and limited training requirements, was the perfect match for Oakley. Today, Daptiv enables Oakley's global team members to easily access and update over 2,500 unique tasks.

Oakley began with a 25 seat pilot to help automate their online catalog. With a tremendous amount of data (over 2,500 unique tasks), Oakley needed a powerful PM solution that could be deployed rapidly & globally.

Oakley used Daptiv to connect project teams spanning the globe including North America and Asia. After experiencing success with their online catalog, Oakely has since expanded their use of Daptiv to other projects, including Sarbanes-Oxley compliant reporting.
